The number of cases of Covid-19 in the county jumped last week. Twenty-nine cases were diagnosed in the past seven days, bringing the total number of cases to 1,450. The 7-day positivity rate for testing is 12.6 percent; the 14-day rate is 7.8 percent. The level of community transition is rated high.
Greene County public health director Becky Wolf reports 53.6 percent of the total Greene County population is fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
“We encourage parents of children 5-11 years of age to get them protected against serious complications and hospitalization with the pediatric Pfizer vaccine,” Wolf said.
As of Nov. 22, 51 children have received their first dose. Vaccinations are available at public health this Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 23-24, from 9 am to noon. Visit https://hipaa.jotform.com/210126093988157 for children’s appointments.
Healthcare providers are now able to administer a booster dose of Moderna or Pfizer vaccine to anyone age 18 and older. The booster must be at least six months after completion of the primary (first two doses) series. Wolf strongly urge persons ages 50 and older and residents age 18 and older in long term care settings. Persons who work in health care or other jobs with a high risk of exposure are also strongly encouraged to get a booster.
